NFi Involved in the Orlando Community - BarCamp Orlando
Modern technology has penetrated our everyday lives, and has become part and parcel of almost everything we do. Some of this technology is addressed at BarCampOrlando, a community building event which happens each year to bring together people from different backgrounds to share and learn from each other. This will be NFi's 3rd year participating and helping with the event. Hopefully, in attendance this Saturday, April 3, will be people who know Java, .NET, Ruby, Python, PHP, and other technologies coming together with people who know film, music, photography, graphic design, podcasting, and even other new Media.
Actually, this is one rule with BarCamp. According to organizers, “It is strongly recommended that attendees give a demo, a session, or help with one. This is called sharing and we like it.” Two members on the NFi team, Derek Bender and Daniel Smith will be signing up to speak.
But don’t be intimidated by this. The schedule of speakers will be built the same day of the event, starting at 9 AM on April 3rd. You may want to show up early to get a good speaking time.
So where do we go? This time BarCamp is lucky enough to be taking place in the heart of downtown Orlando's nightlife scene, Wall Street Plaza. The three venues for presentations, are Slingapour's, One Eyed Jacks and Gibson Guitar Center. Lunch will be served at Waitiki. There will also be outside seating in and around the Cantina for those who want to hang out and mingle.
