Downtown Orlando Relay for Life Wrap Up

May 27th, 2008 | Posted by Elizabeth Baranik

The American Cancer Society, Relay for Life event over at Boone High School, was a huge success! Many thanks to Shannon Harrington with the American Cancer Society for organizing the event.

This event raised over $30,000 collectively. Some of the teams that participated included:

Baldwin Fairchild; Black & Veatch, Blankner Bulldogs, Bumblebee, City of Orlando, Florida Mall Falcons, NFi Studios (us!), OPD Swat, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Team Bumble Bee, Team Life, Team OUC, Walking for Christian Vitter.

Some of the teams participating in event brought some interesting activities and teams to the event that night. Best Buy brought in Guitar Hero and Rock Band for people to donate to play, as well as the Plinko game to help in raising funds. And the Orlando Police Department SWAT had someone running a whole hour every hour.

In the light of American Cancer Society’s theme for this event, ‘Lights, Camera, Relay’ NFi Studios sold glow sticks, bracelets, and movie posters.

This was a great team event overall. Initially, many undertook a cancer survivor walk and to end the day luminaries were lit in honor of those who had passed from cancer. The team of us were out there till 10am the next morning, long hours, but what a rewarding event.

NFi considered it a privilege to be a part of this very meaningful cause and look forward to taking part in future events for the American Cancer Society.
