2008 NTEN Nonprofit Technology Conference

The 2008 NTC will take place March 19-21, in New Orleans. This event is organized by NTEN. NTEN is a membership organization of nonprofit professionals who put technology to use for their causes. “We enable our members to do their jobs better and help their organizations strategically use technology so that they, in turn, make the world a better, just, and equitable place. NTEN facilitates the exchange of knowledge and information within our community. We connect members to each other, provide professional development opportunities, education our constituency on issues of technology us in nonprofits.

“More than 1,000 people will come together at the Sheraton New Orleans for the Nonprofit Technology Conference to connect with colleagues, learn about the issues, share their knowledge with others, and, of course, have fun. We’ll talk about what works, what doesn’t work, and what is in the works for those using nonprofit technology to further a cause. This year’s theme is: Building Community: Connections around the globe and around the corner. This year’s plenary speaker will be David Pogue, the personal technology columnist for the New York Times.”

You guessed it. Our NFi team is packing again and heading towards New Orleans. Elizabeth says, “this is our first NTEN conference. However we have done our research on past conferences and have inhaled all the good reports. We are looking forward to reaching out to other exhibitors at the conference, and excited that NTEN is using web tools such as Twitter, and mobile texting to keep attendees in the know about the event. Preparations are underway! We have shipped our booth over to the hotel in New Orleans and have made contact with some of the other exhibitors to touch base.”

This Conference is definitely eventful! Organizers tell of “ over 100 sessions and affinity groups, a very fun party at Tipitina’s, a text messaging experiment, and lots of fun packed into the social schedule as well.” How WILL we keep up with it all?

More importantly our learning experience is our driving force. Along with the connections we will make, we look forward to the varied and high quality content, the exchange of information and knowledge as it relates to nonprofit technology: and going forward, we are enriched as we bring back to NFi the latest and greatest technology available.
