Florida Creatives

Florida Creatives was formed with the mission to bring together creative thinkers in communities all across Florida. Currently serving Central Florida, expansion is hoped to spread to schools and other metro areas. Membership is comprised of people who pursue creative activities for work or pleasure.

As explained, Florida Creatives plans to achieve their mission by organizing a few centralized gatherings. This month’s scheduled event will happen today at the Crooked Bayou on Orange Avenue, Orlando, from 6-9 pm.

Florida Creatives is first and foremost a networking group. "While the internet makes such connections possible, this group exists because of the undeniable connection made by seeing and speaking to a like minded person face-to-face."

Richard Florida, author of, "The Flight of the Creative Class" was asked, "Can a city or region really impose a top-down solution to attracting the Creative Class? Doesn’t an environment that attracts and nurtures the Creative Class have to come from the bottom up? Isn't there a risk of Disney-fying the Creative Class?" Richard Florida responded,

Creativity is organic. You can't plan for it. You can only allow it room and freedom to grow — something that many leaders fail to do in their pursuit of maintaining the status quo. I’m not asking people to force creativity on their companies, cities, and communities; I'm just asking them to allow it to flourish. There’s a big difference.

Indeed, creativity thrives everywhere and Florida Creatives has forged the path for creativity to flourish in our beloved Orlando. On behalf of NFi Studios we congratulate Florida Creatives and wish them continued success as they get ready to celebrate their first year in operation.
